The Middle-East Bookshop in Sydney, Australia's only Arabic Bookstore

December 7, 2008

by Suzan Abrams

I've just discovered one good reason on why I should speed up my long-overdue visit to Sydney. The last time, I stayed on Bondi beach was in 2005 when I flew from England. Bondi stays special for its legendary sufers and bohemian crowd. Plus, it's terribly easy to hop on one of the many buses, that cruise alongside the beach promenade in front of the seashore, and still find yourself alighting anywhere in the bustling city centre or otherwise, Darling Habour within 15 minutes.

Sydney also happens to spot the only Arabic bookshop in Australia. Simply called The Middle-East Bookshop - please see below for website -, the store says it currently exhibits over 20,000 titles as well as electronic software including a library of e-books, from the Arab states but especially Lebanon which holds a large migrant community in Australia. It also stays especially obliging towards worldwide orders/deliveries/discounts and readily welcomes customers from abroad.
