Harry Potter & the fate of American libraries.
Just read on American Libraries online that a contract issued by US Publisher Scholastic Inc. requires American libraries to select only a minimum number of staff to handle the 7th and final Harry Potter book called Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Library branch managers are also asked to provide their names and contact information. Any news on the novel's plot being leaked out before its July 21st summer release may result in the suspected library being banned from future embargoed titles. These strict rules are seen by a few as a "brilliant marketing strategy" that may have just added on to the intrigue. Several hundred copies have already been ordered in Utah alone. American Libraries Online credits its source of news to Associated press. - susan abraham
