Mother Swan

susan abraham

Mother Earth and Mother Swan,
sailed by
with my jagged heart,
all crystal-shorn and so alone,
now
a mirrored sparkling shard.
Why
the heavy sighs that rest
in the oasis of your long goodbye,
they ask
and
I mask a smile, my pout
a heavy floating cloud.
Nesting
reality, they beg that I may sail
my shore to its finality...
And
I say, yes, yes, once more I'll flee
my
broken cries and twarted days,
dream up a
mysterious shiny sea, and
swim
up a dance for the
embracing and the free.
